‘Avni’ – Mitti Ki Goonj

We would like to introduce ourselves as “AVNI – The Band”. We are a fusion band and play almost all kind of musical genres be it ethnic rock or instrumental or contemporary tracks in English, Hindi & Bengali. As the name also suggests ‘AVNI’ plays music of proclaimed ethnic and natural ambiance of our soil. And as the name AVNI means Echoes from the Terrain - Carries the sound from earth .
Most of our instruments are String based (Acoustic and Electric Guitar) with blend of Tabla and Drum which makes the music a western touch but in Indo ethnic style. We play both our own instrumental and Vocal Compositions along with some other contemporary Hindi and Western numbers ( like Sufi and Classical rock) .Individually all of the band members have performed at various places in India and “AVNI” has done a number of shows in all over India .

Legends. Icons. Idols. We are not (At least not yet). But the following DO describe us to
the ‘T’ – cheeky, showing no signs of slowing down, cool urban charismatic, music throbbing in their veins and eardrums, who pay their bills and tribute to the Lizard King with equal aplomb, people who would sell their neighbor’s dog (if they thought they could get away with it) and fetch an envy-inducing Gibson guitar, you get the drift, don’t you? Bands live and die everyday. We know we are just not one of ‘em. Unstoppable. That’s us – “AVNI – The Band”.

‘A V N I – The Band’

‘Avni’ – Mitti Ki Goonj
Echoes from the terrain...

Individual :
Deepan Bhowmick: Lead Guitar, & Vocal :
Let me start by saying that there are few terms in queens' language that seem to be invented for him....This guy can make music out of nothing and everything…He has played the six strings for the rock band “sandhan”…Won innumerable accolades for his performances & composed lyrics for his own songs…with a dynamic voice and the ability to give life to music, he’s an example of a true musician.

Arnab Bhatacharya: Tabla , Drums & Percussion :
The educated one amongst us (he boasts of a Ph.D. in music), playing the tabla at the age when most children are busy with toys. The people he has played with, Shivamani a master percussionist, Pandit Birju Maharajji, a world renowned kathak dancer, are a few to name but speak volumes about his achievements at such a young age. A “VISHARAD” in tabla, this man can play drums and make melody even from mundane beats.

Subhra Panda : Keyboard, Bass & Vocal
The punching bag. Dimpled Panda is the guy you seek when your ‘spirits’ are low – literally as well as metaphorically. He will valiantly come to your rescue, armed with his customary bottle of Old Monk, some salted peanuts, and the odd can of Foster’s. Cross-legged, bandanna in place,he sinks gracefully into the‘hot seat’ (read the stooge seat). And then all hell breaks loose. With immense talent Subhra composes the lyrics for the band too.

Shulabh Nagpal : Vocal & Percussion
His musical journey took wings when he won first reality singing show on radio hosted by BIG 92.7 FM. Later, he performed with MTV's 'Rock On' and was chosen in the top 10 vocalist's chart, have performed with Sonu Nigam in 2010 in his all India tour. he opened the concerts for him in five cities--Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Mumbai.Sulabh was also the winner of Voice of Delhi (a talent hunt show) in 2010. He has also performed with various renowned playback singers like Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala and Kailash Kher. You got to Hear it to believe it
